I'm interested in sound.
I was born in 1964 in Brisbane, Australia.
When I was really young I listened to the radio a lot and read books (no TV). Around age 9 I started building electronic music stuff and listening to shortwave & CB radio.
Before I left high school I got involved in the local community radio station 2XX, and started a science degree at ANU . Two weeks later that changed to arts, and so began my haphazard journey through academia. In another year I was working for 2XX as station engineer and broadcasting "experimental" music late at night. By this stage I was no longer a university student. Then somehow I got involved with this weird group of musicians in Sydney called Mind/Body/Split, my role being "samplings" and "manipulations"...
Ten years later, I still spend a lot of time at 2XX. I'm very grateful such a place exists and I acknowledge that it has given me many opportunities and contacts. When I'm not there, I work freelance in music, sound and electronics. To be more specific, I do studio & location recording, music post-production, sound design, sound engineering training, Ambisonics and interactive installations.
I'm also very pleased to be connected with ACAT (sponsors of this home page) after I did my Graduate Diploma there on spatial sound. I'm now working on Ambisonics technology there and even making the occasional piece of music.
